I’m Zat Rana: a writer. I try to observe and express the nuances of the human condition. To this end, I am as inspired by philosophy and science as I am by art and history.
My hope is to fuse wisdom from all angles so I can create a sharper map of reality. This approach is well-encapsulated by a note Leonardo da Vinci once wrote to himself:
“Study the science of art. Study the art of science. Develop your senses – especially learn how to see. Realize that everything connects to everything else.”
My work has been read by 10 million people, in about 20 publications, translated into 8 languages. I’m not always right, and I’ve written many things I disagree with. I’m fine with that. It allows this to be experimental, and it challenges you to think for yourself.
My essays are posted here regularly, but email is the best way to keep in touch. I send a newsletter on Mondays with new work, striking thoughts, and book recommendations.
